Maestro Zonic’s work is a testament to his continual search for new ways to communicate with audiences worldwide. Whether composing, conducting, directing, or teaching Maestro Zonic, with his unique sensitivity to larger global issues, is always striving to bridge cultural, national, and religious barriers, to convey a universal message to all people.
Maestro Zonic is the composer, conductor, producer and director of many productions throughout Europe and the United States and his work is a testament to his continual search for new ways to communicate with audiences worldwide to bring unity through music.
Deeply moved by his wartime experiences, Maestro Zonic rose from that war-torn time, to become the Balkans’ most prominent composer and director. Recognized as a cultural ambassador of Bosnia, Maestro Zonic creates deeply emotional, highly kinetic, and powerfully dynamic musical works.
Mr. Zonic is the founder and president of the International Culture Mission “The Circle”. He employed 75 international musicians for the musical that was performed for four years in acclaimed theatres and concert halls such as Theatre An Der Wien, L.W. Beethoven Royal Theatre in Vienna; Irish Arts Center, Broadway, New York; Concert Hall Vatroslav Lisinski, Zagreb; Market Opera House, London and the Posthoff, concert house, Linz, Austria. His musical is a story about the triumph of love and unity over hatred and tyranny, a story that celebrates the survival of the human spirit. It is written to preserve the intellectual and cultural freedoms of the Balkans, to promote positive ideals and human values, and to encourage multiethnic and multicultural awareness and tolerance. Its echoes are heard far beyond the region.
Maestro Zonic was invited to continue his mission in the Dayton Peace Accords and Dayton Peace Prize Project, as Music Director, Cultural Ambassador and Composer in Residence. He composed and directed numerous events and concerts for the Dayton Peace Accords and Dayton Peace Prize. In honor of the first recipient of the Dayton Peace Prize, William Jefferson Clinton, President of the United States of America, he composed Symphony Entrata and Dayton Peace Prize Aria.
1999, he was co-producer and composer for the triumphal Concert for Peace between Dayton Philharmonic and Sarajevo Philharmonic Orchestra held in Memorial Hall, Dayton-OH. In 2000, he received a commission from Time Warner Production, to be guest conductor and producer for the Opening Ceremonies of the “Winter Goodwill Games 2000” in Lake Placid, New York. That same year, he was invited by his Holiness the Dalai Lama to contribute to “The Concert for Tibet” in Bangalore, India.
Maestro Zonic's work and his mission of unity have been recognized and praised world-wide by many including His Holiness, Pope John Paul II; the Dalai Lama; President Bill Clinton; United States Ambassador to the UN Richard Holbrooke; Bosnia - Herzegovina Ambassador to the UN Muhamed Sacirbay; Austrian Ambassador to the UN Dr. Gerhard Pfanzelter; Duchess of York Sarah Fergusson, the Presidency and Ministries of Croatia; the Presidency and Ministries of Bosnia - Herzegovina; the Culture Council of England; Bianca Jagger; rock legend Jimmy Page; actor Martin Sheen.
Maestro Zonic partnered with Mrs. Beth Duke to form the production company Red Oak Productions Ltd. for the purpose of promoting unity and peace through music education and cultural and artistic exchange. As the composer, conductor and director of a series of concert extravaganzas, Maestro Zonic and Mrs. Beth Duke have successfully produced shows that include more than 300 performers, professional technical staff and international guest artists. Their efforts secured over $550,000.00 in revenue for the Seedling Foundation and Dayton Public Schools. On October 21, 2004, Maestro Zonic with Red Oak Productions organized another mission of unity and peace involving a special gala concert in Sarajevo, “United Through Music”, to honor Dayton and Sarajevo as sister cities, celebrating the 10th anniversary of peaceand of the Dayton Peace Accords. He produced and shared conductor's podium with Maestro Neal Gittleman, of a joint musical program with the Sarajevo Philharmonic, the Dayton Philharmonic and the Stivers Philharmonic Orchestras as well guest orchestra musicians from Moscow, Belgrade, Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia and Bosnia.
In the name of the 50th anniversary of the National Music Academy of Sarajevo and the 10th anniversary of the Dayton Peace Accords, Red Oak Productions organized the donation of musical instruments, equipment for repair of wartime damage and creation of a computer lab in the sum of $20,000.00. The donation was organized in conjunction with H.R. Chally Group, Hauer Music of Dayton, OH and the US Embassy in Sarajevo. As a part of strategic plan, Red Oak Productions, acquired ReFraze Recording Studios, one of the largest live studios in the midwest. This studio has produced complex musical projects and productions, full philharmonic orchestras, mix choirs, arrangements for film, broadcast and record publishing. Maestro Zonic’s role with Dayton Public Schools is as Music Consultant, Curriculum Advisor, Director and Principal Conductor of the Stivers Philharmonic Orchestra.
